Public
The Big Hoot 2015 was the biggest ever mass-participation public art event in Birmingham. My design 'Owl Aboard' - sponsored by Cross Country trains - highlights the development of transport network in Birmingham. ‘Owl Aboard’ sold for £5000 at auction, with all proceeds supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The design finished 1st place in Birmingham Mail’s ‘Best Owl Design’ poll.
I was also a workshop leader at St Thomas’ Church in Sheldon to facilitate the creation of ‘Showldon’, a giant owl design that celebrates the local area and Birmingham Airport, who co-funded the project.

Thinktank Science Museum / Millennium Point Book bench Design Statement
Harbouring fossils and skeletons of ancient beasts - including the great Ichthyosaur - Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum became a monument of retreat for a group of crafty young geniuses from Nechells E-Act Academy. A challenge was bestowed upon them to populate the planet with the most fierce beasts known to man. Imaginations ran wild, conjuring visions of great beasts. These inventions were harnessed by an artist known only to the locals as Milan. A magician with a paintbrush, Milan summoned these legends and immortalised them onto a mythical bench, forever carrying their legacy.
The Core Theatre Book bench Design Statement
Through theatre or song, comedy or pantomimes, the best of the arts gather at The Core Theatre which has raised it’s curtains to thousands of stories told over the years. Like Alice falling down the rabbit hole, the theatre is a portal to the fantastic and is such at the centre of mural celebrating ten classic children’s stories, can you name them all? The design celebrates pantomimes from The Core’s program along with Bilbo’s journey to the Lonely Mountain, an ode to legendary local author JRR Tolkien.
To celebrate Roald Dahl’s Centenary year, the rear side of the book bench highlights two classic Dahl characters together for the first time in a quiet and whimsical scene. The bird delivering the book is an ode to Solihull’s Home Library Service, enabling less mobile local residents access to enjoy books.

Midnight Blossom has spread its wings and nested at The Big Hoot Hemel Hempstead, The Bromley Owl Prowl in London and in 2023 flew across Europe to the The Big Hoot, Holzkirchen, near Munich, Germany.
My depiction of admiration is from a child's point of view, freezes the feeling of anticipation and bliss of being presented an ice cream, as if delivered from heaven with a sprinkling of glowing clouds. A reminder to enjoy the smaller moments in life and an homage to the enduring memories of childhood summers.
