Course
- Includes a range of supported personal projects. These may include personal studies, reproductions of classic art or pet portraits
- Develop freehand drawing & use proportional and observational techniques, including a grid system to plan your portrait
- You will be introduced to shading, layering and blending techniques (this includes colour theory and paint mixing) to produce a realistic portrait, including tips and tools required to produce a photo-real portrait
- Support with independent projects, including one to one tutoringand feedback, including demonstrations to understand the process of building up a portrait from initial sketch to completion
- Taught media includes graphite, coloured pencils, pastel pencils, oils and acrylics
- For those interested in more painting classes, look for upcoming Painting Weekend dates and ‘Paint like…’ courses, reproducing a classic or contemporary portrait

Class Cancellations
In the instance that a course isn’t able to run due to low numbers or bad weather, the tutor will update students and offer an alternative in-person or Zoom date.
Student cancellations
If a student is unable to attend a booked class, they will be offered a chance to catch up on a Zoom class. See ‘Friday Art Night on Zoom’ tab for more information.
About the Tutor👨🏻🎨
Milan is a portrait artist and illustrator based in Birmingham. Milan has delivered drawing courses as a tutor a mac Birmingham, Barber Institute of Fine Arts and wellbeing classes at Selfridges and Resorts World Birmingham. During his career, Milan has produced portraits which featured on limited edition vinyl art for Florence + the Machine and Ladyhawke. He recently oil-painted a wedding portrait for former UFC champion Michael Bisping.
